South West property auction hits high figures

Countrywide South West held its second property auction of the year this week.

The auction got off to a good start when lot 3, a detached bungalow in Weston-super-Mare, sold for £309,000; more than £50,000 over its guide price.

Wendy Alexander, Senior Auction Surveyor, said: ‘Our April auction saw another great turnout. There was competitive bidding in the room and on the phones.’

There was fierce bidding throughout the auction, with bidders going head-to-head.

In particular lot 21, The Framing Studio in Penzance, captured high interest from room and phone bidders. After toing and froing, the property eventually sold for £199,000; £49,000 over its guide price.

Audrey Smith, Senior Auction Surveyor, added: ‘81% of lots sold in the room raising above £2.2 million and still rising.’

Other stand out properties include:

  • Lot 7 – A two-floor terrace house in Lifton sold for over £30,000 above its guide price.
  • Lot 9 – 9 Boskenze Court, a top floor apartment in Cornwall, sold for £146,000.

Countrywide South West’s next auction will be held on Thursday, 22nd June at Sandy Park Conference Centre, Exeter.
