Busy turnout for Countrywide South West auctions

Countrywide South West’s third auction of the year saw another busy turnout.

The auction got off on the right foot after lot 1, a studio apartment in Exeter City Centre, sold for above its guide price for £66,500. 

Wendy Alexander, Senior Auction Surveyor, said: ‘We had another busy turnout and there was fierce bidding in the room and from the phones.’

Lot 4, a four-bedroom mid terrace property in Bristol, impressed at auction and was eventually sold for £237,500; more than £45,000 over its guide price.

Senior Auction Surveyor at Countrywide, Audrey Smith, said: ‘It was another busy catalogue which brought in another busy room.

‘We raised over £1.5 million.’

Other properties sold at the auction included:

  • Lot 11 – a detached cottage in Callestick, sold for £240,000; £90,000 above its guide price.
  • Lot 14 – a sizeable plot of plan in Truro, Cornwall, sold for £34,500.
  • Lot 28 – a two-bedroom flat in Torquay sold for £106,000.
  • Lot 29 – a four-floor property in Exeter sold for £75,000 above its guide price!
  • Lot 30 – a freehold terrace property in Weston-super-Mare which sold for £111,000; £10,000 over its guide price.
